Overview

Custom journey. This plan is built around real hotels and priced for your own dates. It is not a scheduled departure: there are no reserved rooms, flights or seats; the prices shown are estimates, and your actual price is confirmed in a written quote. Request your personalized quote and we will check current availability and send an itemized price in USD. Family rooming, extra beds, cots and accessible rooms are requests until the hotel confirms them in writing.

Why this journey

Families need space, short walks and rest. Hilton describes Hilton Suites Jabal Omar Makkah as across the street from the King Fahd and King Abdullah gates, with suite-style rooms that can keep a family together. In Madinah, Pullman Zamzam Madina is a short walk from the Prophet’s Mosque.

Questions we will ask you

  • Ages of the children, and whether anyone needs a cot or a stroller
  • Whether a grandparent or anyone else walks slowly, uses a wheelchair or needs an accessible bathroom
  • Whether you prefer everyone in one suite or connecting rooms
  • Who will perform Umrah together, and who may rest at the hotel

Timing and preparation

We build in an extra rest day after arrival and keep visits to mornings, before the heat.

Read our guide to Umrah with elderly parents and young children.

Your price

Estimated prices

This is a custom journey, not a fixed offer. The estimates below show what similar journeys typically cost. Hotel rates in Makkah and Madinah change with the season, the room and how many share it, so we confirm your price for your dates and your group, in USD, in a written quote before anything is booked.

Estimated from, per person, in USD · Flights from the USA included
Room sharingEstimated from, per person
Quad$2,750
Triple$2,950
Double$3,150
Single$3,700

Estimate only, based on typical prices for similar journeys. Your final price depends on your dates, availability and flights and is confirmed in your written quote.

  • Quote pricing is not a guaranteed offer. Flights and hotels are reserved only after you approve a written quote and pay the deposit.

What a quote can include

Everything below is arranged on request and itemized in your written quote. Nothing is included until you approve it.

Can be included

  • Hotel nights at the hotels shown, or alternatives you approve in writing
  • Airport and intercity transfers by private car, or Haramain high-speed train tickets if you prefer
  • Help with the Umrah visa application where you are eligible
  • Return flights from your chosen U.S. airport, if you ask for an air + land quote
  • Optional guided ziyarat (visits) in Makkah and Madinah
  • Breakfast, where the hotel rate in your quote includes it

Not included

  • Flights, unless you request an air + land quote
  • Meals beyond what the hotel rate in your quote includes
  • Travel and medical insurance (strongly recommended)
  • Rawdah visits: permits are booked by each pilgrim through the Nusuk app and are never guaranteed
  • Wheelchair, mobility or porter services, unless arranged in writing
  • Personal expenses, laundry and tips
  • Visa or government fees, unless your written quote lists them

Rooms and who shares

Hotel rooms in Makkah and Madinah are usually quoted per person by occupancy: quad (four sharing), triple, double or single. Sharing lowers the per-person cost; a double or single gives more privacy. Many hotels add a bed rather than a second room for a fourth guest, so ask how beds are arranged. For children, tell us their ages: child rates, extra beds and cots depend on each hotel’s rules and are confirmed in your quote. If anyone uses a wheelchair or walks slowly, tell us early so we can ask about accessible rooms, elevators and the route to the mosque.

Day-by-day itinerary

  1. Day 1 · In transit

    Depart the United States

Overnight flight. Bring snacks, a change of clothes for the children and any medicines in your hand luggage.

  2. Day 2 · Makkah

Arrive in Jeddah, transfer to Makkah

Land at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah. If you are coming straight to Makkah, you will already be in Ihram from the flight. Transfer to your hotel, rest, eat and drink water, then perform Umrah when you feel ready, at your own pace.

  3. Day 3 · Makkah

    Family rest day

A deliberately light day after the long journey from the United States. Pray in the Haram, sleep when you need to, and keep hydrated. Jet lag is real: most travelers are 7 to 11 hours ahead of home. Short visits to the Haram in small groups work well with children.

  4. Day 4 · Makkah

    Umrah for those who waited

If some family members rested on arrival, this is a good day for them to perform Umrah, with others staying back with the children.

  5. Day 5 · Makkah

    Optional ziyarat

Optional guided visit to places connected with the life of the Prophet ﷺ, such as Jabal al-Nour (the Cave of Hira) from below, Jabal Thawr, Mina, Muzdalifah and Arafat. A morning outing, back before the heat.

  6. Day 6 · Makkah

    Worship and packing

Prayers in the Haram, extra Tawaf if you wish, and Quran. Choose quieter times (late night, mid-morning) if crowds are hard for you.

  7. Day 7 · Madinah

    Travel to Madinah

Check out after the morning prayer and travel to Madinah by private car or the Haramain high-speed train (about two and a half to three hours by train, longer by road). Check in and visit Masjid an-Nabawi for the evening prayers.

  8. Day 8 · Madinah

    Masjid an-Nabawi

Pray in Masjid an-Nabawi and offer greetings of peace at the Prophet’s ﷺ grave. If you hold a Rawdah permit from the Nusuk app, follow its time slot; permits are never guaranteed. Agree a meeting point outside a named gate, especially with teenagers.

  9. Day 9 · Madinah

    Quba Mosque

An easy morning trip to Quba Mosque, then rest in the afternoon.

  10. Day 10 · Madinah

    Uhud and a quiet afternoon

An optional early visit to Mount Uhud, back before the heat, and a slow afternoon at the hotel.

  11. Day 11 · Madinah

    A calm day in Madinah

A slower day of prayer and reflection. Madinah’s pace is gentler than Makkah’s, and many pilgrims find these days the most restful.

  12. Day 12 · In transit

    Fly home from Madinah

Final prayers at Masjid an-Nabawi, then transfer to Madinah airport, or by train to Jeddah, for your flight home.

Payments & cancellation

Deposit, payment and cancellation terms for this journey are set out in your written quote, and you see them before you pay anything.

Questions about this journey

What is the difference between double, triple and quad sharing?

It is the number of people sharing one hotel room: two, three or four. Quad sharing, four people in one room, gives the lowest per-person price and suits families or friends traveling together. Triple and quad rooms often add beds to a standard room rather than being larger, so ask about bed types and space. See room sharing explained.

Can I request family-friendly or connecting rooms?

Some hotels offer family rooms, suites or connecting rooms, but numbers are limited and each room type has a maximum number of guests. We confirm the room type, the number of beds and any cot in writing before you pay. Ask early if you need them in Ramadan or school holidays.

Is Umrah suitable for elderly family members?

Yes, with the right planning. For older travelers we look for hotels with the shortest, most level route to the mosque and good elevators, airline assistance, a slower pace with rest days, and wheelchair arrangements for Tawaf and Sa’i. Starting in Madinah can make the first days gentler, and a doctor’s check before travel is wise. Read Umrah with elderly parents.

What should families traveling with children consider?

Choose a hotel close to the mosque so you can return for naps and meals, plan one main activity a day, and carry water, snacks and an ID card with your phone number for each child. In crowded areas, agree a meeting point in case you are separated. Read our guide to Umrah with children, and the family planning guide for travel with several generations.

Why can a quoted price change before I book?

Because hotels and airlines reprice inventory continuously, so a rate that was available when we quoted can rise or sell out. Visa and government fees can also change between seasons. That is why each quote states how long its price is held, and the price is fixed only once you accept within that period and the booking is made. Our listings show a confirmed price only after a supplier quote has been checked and approved; any other figure is labelled as an estimate.

Can families request larger vehicles?

Yes. Tell us the number of travelers, the number and size of suitcases, any folding wheelchair or stroller, and whether you need child seats, and we will request a vehicle that fits everyone and everything in one trip. A large family or group may need a minivan, a coaster or two vehicles. Child seat availability is confirmed with the transport provider before you travel.

Is transport included for ziyarat?

Only when your quote lists ziyarat as included. Some packages include a guided visit to sites such as Quba Mosque, Uhud and Masjid al-Qiblatayn in Madinah, or Jabal al-Nour and Arafat in Makkah, with transport. Others leave ziyarat as an optional extra you can add, or arrange locally. Ask how much walking each visit involves if anyone has limited mobility.

Can children accompany their parents on Umrah?

Yes. Children of any age can travel with their parents, and each child needs their own passport, visa and Nusuk registration. Children can perform Umrah with a parent’s help; whether a child’s Umrah counts in the same way as an adult’s is a question for a qualified scholar. In the mosques, keep young children close and give each one a card with your phone number and hotel name. See Umrah with children.

What should I consider when traveling with an infant?

Book a bassinet seat with the airline early, check the fare’s rules for a lap infant versus a seat, and confirm whether a crib is available at each hotel. Bring a compact stroller or a carrier, since strollers can be awkward in the busiest areas of the mosques, and enough formula, diapers and medicines for the first days. Choose a hotel near the Haram so one parent can return quickly. See Umrah with children.

Can I request flexible rest time in my itinerary?

Yes. We can leave the day after arrival free so you perform Umrah rested, keep afternoons open in the heat, add a buffer night before the flight home, and leave ziyarat optional. Rest time is simply unscheduled time in your itinerary, so it adds hotel nights rather than a separate charge. Read flexible Umrah itineraries.

How can I check what is excluded?

Read the “Not included” section of your package page and written quote; anything not listed as included should be treated as excluded. Pay particular attention to meals, visa fees, the train, ziyarat, baggage, tips, and transfers on days you travel independently. If a line is unclear, ask before you accept. Our guide on reading an Umrah quote shows where to look.

Is this a scheduled departure I can book?

No. It is a custom journey: a plan built around real hotels that we price and confirm for your own dates. There are no reserved rooms, flights or seats until you approve a written quote.

Is the estimated price what I will pay?

Not necessarily. The estimate is based on typical prices for similar journeys, per person with four sharing a room unless you choose another room. Hotel rates in Makkah and Madinah change with the season, the room and how many share it, and flights depend on your dates. Your final price is confirmed in your written quote, which lists every cost in USD.

Can I ask about discounts?

Yes. Tick “Ask about available discounts” when you send your request and a specialist will tell you honestly what, if anything, applies to your dates. We never promise a discount in advance.

Can I change the hotels or the number of nights?

Yes. Treat this as a starting point. Tell us your dates, who is traveling and what matters most (walking distance, budget, family rooms) and we will suggest options.

Can I fly from my city?

You can ask for an air + land quote from any U.S. airport, including New York (JFK), Chicago (ORD), Houston (IAH), Washington Dulles (IAD) and Los Angeles (LAX). Routes and airlines are confirmed only in your written quote.

Can the whole family stay in one room?

Often, in a suite, but it depends on the hotel’s limits for each room type. We confirm the number of guests, beds and any cot in writing before you pay.
